Are You A Good Poker Player

I have been playing poker for a little over 6 months now, and I keep asking myself: Are you a good poker player? I just loaded all the games I have played in the last month into poker tracker, along with about half the games I have played over the previous 5 months. The total came up to 8,600 hands of poker, with a total profit of $269 (not counting any bonuses). Over 6,500 of these games were played at .50/$1 tables, so the question is am I making 2 big blinds an hour? I have read that's what a good player can expect to make. Using a calculator to come up with some kind of reasonable answer, this is my process. I know I play 33 raked hands per hour, per table. But it just occured to me that does not include hands that do not make the rake. I just went back and pulled up 3 tables and the numbers worked out like this. 87 minutes, 91 hands = 62.0 hands per hour 72 minutes, 81 hands = 67.5 hands per hour 83 minutes, 75 hands = 54.2 hands per hour That gives me a total of 4 hours on 3 tables and it all averages out to 61 hands per hour. This is probably a pretty good average. I will keep track of some more tables when I load them into poker tracker but I don't think it is going to change much. It does depend a little on the tables you play, I only play 10 person tables and I look for full tables. If it ever gets down to 4 or 5 people then I usually leave the table. So 8,600 / 61 = 140 table hours played And $269 / 140 = 1.92 so that give me 1.92 big blinds per hour which is not that far off from 2 per hour. Now I just need to move up to the $100/$200 tables and keep that same win ratio. J
