Four Color Decks
I have changed my mind about Four Color decks when I started playing I thought that playing with a 4 color deck would be a mistake because if I got used to playing with the 4 colors then I would not be able to play at a B&M table as well. Yesterday after losing another big pot I have changed my mind. When I am playing 4 tables many times I only look at the cards for 1 second sometimes less before I make a decision on what I am going to do. Now it's very easy to make fast decisions because I have probably played a total of 15,000 to 20,000 hands. I am not saying that’s a lot of hands, but it’s enough to give me a good feel for what hands I want to play and which hands I don't want to play, and it usually only takes me a fraction of a second to decide. The exception is when I have a straight draw, so I get 2 cards and I am trying to figure out if the guy has bet more than I can afford to stay in the hand or not? I should just get a calculator out and figure out when someone bets .50 cents how much money must be in the pot to make it worth calling. Anyway, every once in a while the board will have something with 4 black cards, and for some reason my brain will glance at this and not think anything about it. Check for a pair.. if no then check for a straight possibility.. if no then - now here is where I should check for the 3 of a suit for a possible flush but every once in a while my brain skips over this part and jumps to BET. Then I get BEAT, by a flush and I look back at the board and sure enough there are 3 clubs right there. Now sometimes I would have bet anyway, but it's just nice to know you might get beat by a flush when it happens instead of being surprised by it. I recently realized that when you playing 4 tables online that's soooo much different than when you’re playing at a B&M game. At a B&M game you have all kinds of time to look at the cards and think about them, then think some more, then think a little more then decided what you are going to do. So I have now decided that the four color deck definitely saves me from some mistakes, and there is really no chance that I will get so used to it that I can't play in a B&M game or a home game.
