Poker Bots
I have been reading up some more on poker bots and it appears that there are some that can play tournaments, my opinion is that these are rare.
I think on the micro limit games it would not be that hard to get a bot that would consistently make money, but on the no limit games and the higher limit games I think it would be really hard.
I am not saying that there is not a single person in the world that does not have the capability to program a bot that can win, there are a lot of smart people out there.
But most of what I read, about the people who have poker bots, is complaining that they left it running and it lost all their money over night.
That seems to be a common problem.
I think the main reason for this is they are starting with a bankroll that is too small and they are playing players that are too good.
The last couple days I have been playing on these tables:
- .25/.50 limit – because I only have $15 in that account
- $1/$2 limit – because that’s the smallest table that counts toward the bonus
- .50/$1 limit – because that’s the tables I like to play right now
- .25 no limit – to try something new
The thing that surprised me was how different these games all played.
The strategy you have to use if very different between these games, and you have to adjust your game depending on how the other players are playing.
When people start playing wild you have to start getting real conservative, when the whole table is playing tight you have to start getting aggressive or you won’t make any money.
I think one of the major factors when playing that a bot can’t really do is to tell when someone is just out playing them.
Sometimes I get bad cards, that’s part of the game, no problem. Sometimes I get good cards and someone just out plays me.
They bet big and when I call them down to the river they win.
Recently one guy raised me on 12 different hands that I played, my cards were so bad I had to fold. I finally got a big hand and he folded on my first bet.
He took my money a dozen times, then the first chance I got to get a little of it back he folds and robs me of the opportunity to win anything back. He just out played me.
What can you do… It’s simple get off the table and go play someplace else. Maybe with a poker bot that’s playing above it’s skill set.
