Trying To Move Up To $1/$2 Again

This is probably a mistake but I am going to try and move up to the $1/$2 limit tables again.  I signed up for a bonus on Americas Card Room and I can’t clear it at the .50/$1 tables so I am going to try for the $1/$2 limit tables.

The first thing that I noticed is that there is a large difference between the players at .50/$1 and $1/$2 limit games.  At the higher limit the players are much more aggressive, today when I was playing I would say 3 out of 4 times the blinds were raised pre-flop.  On the lower limit games I would estimate it is only raised 1 in 5 or less, depending on the table.

There are also a lot of people who bet after the flop every time.  This means that you can’t pick up a pot until the turn and by then there is a sizeable amount of money there depending on how many people are doing this and staying in.

What this does is it magnifies your swings, when you lose you lose a lot more, when you win you win a lot more.  I played for about 20 minutes and lost just over $100 this means you have to have more than twice the money to play this level.

I can play .50/$1 with $25 at the table and very seldom will I lose $12 I steal a lot of blinds if the players are weak and usually don’t run into overly aggressive players.

At $1/$2 I have playing with $75 at the tables and its not uncommon for me to lose that amount.  I have seen a lot of pots around $50.

So I am probably in trouble again, and I will end up losing my poker bank roll again and moving back down to .50/$1 again.

It all depends on if I can hit enough of those big pots to get me by the next few days or not.  I know I should not be depending on luck to play but it looks like that’s where I find myself again.
