Thinking About Playing Poker For a Job
I have been looking around the internet studying up a little on playing poker, I am thinking about trying to start playing for a job, I really like the idea of being able to work any hours you like, if I can get my hourly rate up to around $35 an hour I would be pretty happy with this.
I was just reading some of Daniel Negreanu's writing about when he started and was playing a $10/$20 limit game and was making $44 per hour.
This is encouraging and disheartening at the same time, it lets me know that it is possible, but it also makes me realize that I am in for some real setbacks in the near future, since I have started out playing a $4/$8 game and I am averaging over $100 per hour after my first few hours.
I am not sure if I want to continue or not, I was reading what another poker player was saying about how half the people he talks to asks about turning pro because they want to start playing poker as their job.
I thought this was funny, at least I am not the only one who has this idea.
I was checking some of the games around were I live and they have just started playing no limit games, with a $100 or $200 buy in. There is also a $10/$20 limit game that is not too far away, so if I get better I do have some room to move up.
